Excursions from Takalau Resort - Van Thuy Tu Temple Van Thuy Tu is the oldest temple of Thuy Tu fishermen, built in 1962 for the Whale worshipping.
The fishermen have considered the Whale as a water nymph because whenever they suffer a sea accident, Whales have often saved their lives. Now, nearly 100 Whale skeletons and various kinds of the same species are worshipped by the fishermen there.
In the precinct of Van Temple, there is a large area of land for burial of died Whales drifting on shore. Any fisherman who sees “Him” first shall be His first-born-child, and that man must be in mourning for Him for 3 years.
Van Thuy Tu has 24 Honors granted by Nguyen Dynasties because many generals of the Nguyen Dynasties had their lives saved at sea by the Whale. Van Thuy Tu is located on Ngu Ong Street, Duc Thang Ward, Phan Thiet.
