Excursions from Takalau Resort - Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet is known by Vietnamese people because of its fish sauce (nuoc mam). The most famous and long–standing fish sauce factory is located there. In the beginning of the 20th century, the French and the Chinese dominated the economy of Vietnam. They shared and controlled mineral, forestry products, rice… The Vietnamese could not compete against them in the profitable fields of business, but only in producing “nuoc mam”.
In 1995, especially when the phenomenon of the solar eclipse occurred (Phan Thiet was the place where people could see this phenomenon the clearest), visitors came here for observation. Since then, Mui Ne – Phan Thiet has been known by French, Swiss poeple, … and it has become an attractive tourist destination.
Phan-Thiet cover market and fish market are quite interesting places to see to understand the life of the local Vietnamese people and yet some closes knowledge of all kinds of Vietnamese food. In addition, a promenade by boat on the Caty river transports us to the fishers floating village.
